This weekend sees Castletownbere Development Association host its annual June Bank Holiday Weekend Festival, a taster in the run up to the town's main Festival of the Sea which is held annually over the August Bank Holiday week.

Nomination forms have been sent to each member eligible to vote. Please return nomination forms no later than 5pm on Wednesday May 29th.
Cycle week will be held on Bere Island on June 15th & 16th. Bring your bike to the Island at reduced rates and explore the Island. June 19th Bike N Beara, bike doctor, will be on the Island to look at your bike, there will also be a family 5 K cycle along the east loop passing the viking harbour and Lonehort fort that evening. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Noel Harrington, T.D., for Cork South West, speaking following the Launch of the Beara Breifne Walking Trail, by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny at The Mansion House last night, (Wednesday 16th May 2013) stated that he was delighted to witness the culmination of years of tireless work come to fruition. The Beara Breifne Way is a walking trail, over 600km in length, running from the Beara Peninsula, County Cork to Breifne, County Leitrim following the line of Donal Cam O'Sullivan Beare's march in the aftermath of the Battle of Kinsale in 1602. The route will make use of the Beara Way; Ballyhoura Way; Suck Valley Way; Miner's Way and Historical Trail; Leitrim Way; and Cavan Way.
Castletownbere Development Association Ltd held their AGM on Tuesday 30th April at 9pm in The Forge, Castletownbere. Chairperson Michael Downey was unable to attend so Vice Chair Noel Forde conducted the meeting on his behalf, beginning by thanking all those in attendance for their support. He then gave a brief outline of the CDA's activities and acheivments throughout the year.
